Florida Governor Ron DeSantis will soon be out of work and is reportedly “begging” President Donald J. Trump for a job in his administration.
After an amazing run of success during which he established Republican dominance in the Sunshine State, DeSantis will be forced to leave the governor’s mansion due to term limits, with the future uncertain for a man who was once seen by many as presidential material.
According to a report by Marc Caputo of the left-leaning outlet Axios, Trump has told confidantes that the former rival has been “begging” for a top spot in the administration, with the attorney general position of particular interest to the outgoing governor.

“Ron was begging me to be AG,” Trump reportedly told one unnamed confidant, “who relayed the remark to Axios,” the outlet reported.
Pam Bondi was fired earlier this month. Her deputy, Todd Blanche, is currently serving as acting attorney general until the job is permanently filled.
The two GOP leaders recently sat down to lunch with Axios reporting, “DeSantis’ future was on the menu after the two men had lunch at Trump National Doral Golf Club in Miami a week ago Sunday.”
“There was a conversation at that lunch. I don’t think AG is real. But he’s gonna be looking for work, and Trump likes him,” one source who was not named said.
“DeSantis also has expressed interest in being secretary of defense and even a spot on the U.S. Supreme Court, according to six sources briefed on the discussions,” according to the outlet.
“DeSantis is 100% not interested in the AG job, but he would be interested in two things: War secretary or Supreme Court, which would be his dream job,” another unnamed source told Axios, adding that iconic conservative Justice Clarence Thomas and DeSantis “almost have a father-son relationship and would be a hell of a legacy for Trump.”
Pete Hegseth is currently heading up the Pentagon and is in good standing with the president as the Iran war drags on.
The report notes that the governor “waged a bitter — but brief — primary bid” against Trump for the 2024 GOP nomination.
“Bygones are bygones,” an unnamed Trump adviser is quoted as saying. “But that doesn’t mean people forget.”
“There’s a big reason the president wouldn’t pick Ron to be his attorney general: There’s a way-too-high chance he would try to f*ck the president over,” another source said, adding, “Trump needs someone at Justice he absolutely trusts. But the Defense Department or the Supreme Court or something else? Sure.”
The White House declined to comment on the report.
In a statement, DeSantis’s spokesperson Alex Lanfranconi said that the Florida governor “enjoys a great relationship with President Trump.”
“Some in the media prefer to focus on fake rumors rather than the many accomplishments of Florida’s partnership with the Trump administration,” he said. “The governor looks forward to continuing to work with President Trump on enforcing immigration laws, restoring the Everglades, and helping to reform college athletics.”
