Democratic officials’ reactions to an FBI raid on a voter registration group belied a “nothing to find” mentality and instead supported the notion of a “Five alarm [fire].”
Amid investigations in Arizona, California, Georgia, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin, leftists have maintained talking points that America’s elections are free and fair. As an organization in Ohio became the latest to face scrutiny from the federal government, victimhood status was claimed alongside insistence that Thursday’s raids were “um, politically motivated.”
Reporting on the raids of the Ohio Organizing Collaborative, as well as the homes of employees, volunteers, and affiliated organizations, the Statehouse News Bureau cited board member Prentiss Haney as saying, “This is not normal business. I mean there’s no reason for over 100 agents to be knocking on the doors of everyday Ohioans.”
“Demanding and accusing people of voter fraud as if it was a witch hunt and, and scaring them with the children, following them in their cars to school and to work. I mean this was a full-out assault,” Haney further contended. “I mean, we haven’t seen anything like this since Selma. And so this was completely, um, politically motivated.”
Thursday’s raids were hardly the beginning of scrutiny in the Buckeye State as Libs of TikTok pointed to a 2024 report from The Federalist on suspected fraud that referenced OOC board member Kirk Noden, “the founder of ANOTHER leftwing Ohio-based firm that was investigated for voter fraud … The Democrat voter fraud schemes run deep.”

That firm was identified as Black Fork Strategies, which, according to an August 2024 report, had boasted of registering over 125,000 voters in Ohio since 2018. As part of an investigation by the Ohio Secretary of State, the Hamilton County Board of Elections had turned over suspicious voter registration applications.
What’s more, canvasser Rebecca Hammonds, who once worked for OOC, had previously pled guilty to 13 counts of making a false registration and one count of election falsification in 2017, resulting in a sentence of 180 days in jail.
While the FBI had yet to comment on the raids, former Ohio Sen. Sherrod Brown, the Democratic nominee against Vice President J.D. Vance’s appointed successor, Ohio Sen. Jon Husted (R), sounded off, “Reports of the FBI raiding a voting rights organization in Ohio are deeply disturbing and are a transparent attempt at silencing Ohioans and their ability to vote in free and fair elections.”
Calling for transparency from the FBI, he insisted, “Any attempt to intimidate Ohio voters is wrong, and will not work. Millions of Ohioans are ready to hold Washington politicians accountable for voting time and again to raise the cost of gas, groceries, and utility bills.”
Likewise, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Dr. Amy Acton reacted, “I am deeply troubled by reports that FBI agents raided an Ohio voter registration organization in Cleveland. Any attempts by federal law enforcement to intimidate eligible Ohioans from registering to vote are unacceptable. Both Republicans and Democrats attest to the security of Ohio’s elections, and it is important that eligible Ohio voters feel safe casting their ballots this November.”
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose (R) shared those statements and more with the caption “Five alarm [fire] over at @OHDems. Do they always react this way when there’s ‘nothing to find?’ Asking for a friend.”
