A sudden shift in subpoenas from the Justice Department offered a new opportunity for a former CIA Director to opine on the Russian collusion hoax and demonize the current administration.

On the heels of a prosecutorial shakeup at the DOJ, word spread that subpoenas were issued to FBI and intelligence officials to testify before a grand jury related to the probe of former CIA Director John Brennan. Following a report that those subpoenas had been dropped in favor of requests, the government official turned corporate media analyst — accused of falsely denying reliance on the infamous Steele dossier — remained “quite proud” of his actions on MS NOW.
According to the Associated Press, voluntary interviews were sought after recent subpoenas issued for grand jury testimony were withdrawn. It was noted, “The reason for the reversal in course was not immediately known.”
Opining on the latest in the case, Brennan appeared with MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace and said, “This has been an odyssey over the past 10 years where Russian interference has been reviewed, the various actions that were taken by senior officials at that time have been scrutinized over and over and over again.”
“And it’s clear that this administration, the Trump administration, wants to continue to try to assert that there was some wrongdoing, and I am quite proud of what we did to uncover and expose Russian interference in that 2016 election, just the way the Russians have attempted to interfere in a lot of elections, not just here in the United States, but abroad,” insisted the former chief spook.
“And throughout my career, I worked closely with a lot of individuals in the Department of Justice who had the highest integrity and were really dedicated public servants to try to make sure that the department’s name was actually reflected in their actions, the Department of Justice,” continued Brennan. “And speaking to a number of people who have served in the Department of Justice over the years, they’re shocked, they’re appalled, they’re dismayed, they’re worried, they’re very troubled by what they see happening.”
The subpoena reversal also followed a report that the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida National Security Section Chief Maria Medetis Long was removed from the Brennan probe over her own alleged resistance to quickly bring charges against Brennan.
As detailed in a referral for criminal prosecution from House Judiciary Committee Chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) to then-Attorney General Pam Bondi, “… newly declassified evidence also confirms that Brennan falsely testified to the Committee. During a transcribed interview on May 11, 2023, Brennan stated that ‘the CIA was not involved at all with the [Steele] dossier.’”
The letter also presented how an Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA) that claimed Russia aimed to aid then-businessman Donald Trump win the 2016 election, “now known to be false, was based in part on the Steele dossier, “which was referenced in the ICA main body text, and further detailed in a two-page ICA annex.”
Those details didn’t prevent Brennan from going on to insist, “Part of this is to harass, to try to hurt individuals, reputationally, professionally, financially. Trying to keep the story alive as a way to deflect from other issues and challenges that they face. Again, I’m not surprised by this. I’m very dismayed and disappointed by it.” Meanwhile, he was called out on social media for appearing to do just that.
A haggard John Brennan says he’s “dismayed and disappointed” by the investigation into the Russia Hoax.
