Hilarity surrounding Trump’s answer about attending son’s wedding doesn’t stop

President Donald Trump’s hilarious response to a reporter asking whether he would be attending the nuptials of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., and Bettina Anderson, is getting lots of attention.

The wedding is reportedly taking place Saturday in the Bahamas, but the president’s released schedule for the weekend indicates he’ll be in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Saturday, according to NBC News.

“He’d like me to go, but it’s going to be just a small little private affair, and I’m going to try and make it. I’m in the midst — I said, you know, this is not good timing for me,” Trump said. “I have a thing called ‘Iran’ and other things.”

“That’s one I can’t win on,” Trump continued. “If I do attend, I get killed. If I don’t attend, I get killed — by the fake news, of course.”

The president then shared his thoughts on the wedding, “He’s got a very — a person who I’ve known for a long time, and hopefully they are going to have a great marriage.”

Don Jr. called the matchup a “big win” when he and his bride-to-be announced their engagement during a White House holiday party in December. He was married to Vanessa Trump for 13 years and has two children with her. After their divorce, he was engaged to Kimberly Guilfoyle, who was appointed as U.S. ambassador to Greece in 2025 after they split up.

Speaking of hilarity, a man standing behind President Trump was the butt of the joke due to his large belly and protruding belly button — here’s a quick sampling of responses to the story, as seen on X:
